International Decorators is one of Northern Illinois’ largest commercial, Industrial, and residential drywall, acoustical ceiling and painting contractors. We are an employee-owned construction business that specializes in metal stud framing, drywall hanging and taping, metal roof trusses, acoustical/specialty ceilings, interior/exterior painting, and wall covering. We are seeking a Project Manager/ Estimator to work in our Chicago Loop Office.
Summary: The Project Manager completes timely estimates on proposed work. Project managers oversee projects from start to finish ensuring that the company’s profit goals are met.
Reports to: VP of Sales
The Project Manger’s responsibilities include:
- Establish good rapport with customers and demonstrate key leadership behaviors in the
construction community through accurate bids and estimates. - Provide competitive and complete estimates with proper notes (i.e.: bond costs, premium time, etc.).
- Coordinate with the superintendents to eliminate shortages of material or unprofitable production schedules.
- Manage construction plan(s) and maintain current project status records.
- Review blue prints, prepare project take-offs and estimation of costs. This includes computer input in the preparation of the bid proposal, estimating labor hours, estimating materials needed, review of previous jobs and their completed costs and consideration of construction standards.
- Work with the general contractor or superintendent concerning problems or discrepancies on prints, prior to submitting proposal.
- Calculate cost of change orders on a timely basis. Ensure all necessary considerations are made in the preparation of the change order and proper billing is complete on a timely basis.
- Work with Project Accountants to assist with billing changes, collecting payment, etc.…
- Develop and submit all required reports to Administration (Bids) and Follow Up Items (Divisional Meetings) within established guidelines.
- Maintain an awareness of all business-related trends, advances and improvements.
- Identify and solve problems; Report, track and trouble-shoot exceptions and escalate if
necessary. - Make visits to job sites to review job progress and become better informed about project
requirements to prepare more accurate estimates.
Requirements:
- Associates or Bachelors degree, preferably in business or construction
- Two years’ experience in construction bidding and sales with hands on experience in designated construction area (drywall or acoustic).
- Previous experience in reading and understanding blue prints.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred skills and experience:
- Project Management Certification
- Five years sales experience
- Knowledge of safety procedures, regulations & codes helpful
- Solid negotiating & buying skills

We are seeking a Safety Manager to work in our Barrington, Illinois office.
Summary:
The Safety Manager’s responsibilities are to perform safety training with all employees, perform job site safety inspections, safety policy development and enforcement & workers compensation claims management. The overall goal is to keep our employees safe and to protect our financial resources by creating an accident-free safety culture.
Reports to:
Director of Risk
The Safety Manager’s responsibilities include:
- Determines and performs safety training that is needed and/or required for all employees.
- Conducts job site safety inspections and reports findings and corrective measures to upper management.
- Oversees and manages all workers compensation matters including but not limited to; claims management, documentation, claim reviews, reserves, & fiscal responsibility. Works closely with insurance adjustors on all insurance claim matters.
- Creates Site-Specific Safety Plans and/or Job Hazard Analysis Plans when needed and/or
required. - Oversees and implements safety accountability for management and our field employees.
- Develops, manages and oversees our company’s written safety & health plan.
- Oversees and manages toolbox talk program and develops field safety leaders.
- Chairs safety committees and determines committee format and agenda.
- Performs and/or directs employees to perform detailed accident investigations to determine compensability of injury and corrective measures.
- Safety Enforcement – develops and enforces our safety policies
- Manages OSHA Logs
- Ensures company compliance with OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations
- Administers our respirator program – ensuring our employees that require respirators have been trained, medical evaluated and fit tested.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Great understanding of the 1926 OSHA Construction Regulations
- Detail-oriented and ability to multi-task
- Excellent presentation and training skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Safety should be your passion
Preferred Skills:
- CHST and/or CSP designation
- Bachelor’s degree in construction safety
- Certified to perform OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour training
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English a plus

We are seeking a Warehouse Assistant to work in our Barrington location.
Summary:
The Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for the maintenance of the shop, warehouse,
and steel yard. They will fulfill orders, manage inventory and repair equipment.
Reports to:
Warehouse Manager
The Warehouse Assistant’s responsibilities include:
- Maintain adequate level of warehouse supplies
- Diagnose, quote and repair equipment, order parts as needed
- Receive, clean and inspect tools & equipment returning from jobs
- Receive daily deliveries, ensuring quality of materials as well as accuracy of quantities and specifications
- Ensure all inventory is processed in and out of the system accurately, following inventory control processes and making sure company assets are protected at all times
- Load/unloading trucks with material and equipment for job sites
- Keeping the warehouse organized and clean
- Maintain steel yard organization
- Assist in inventory counts monthly
- Recycle old paint
- Clean, inspect and repair baker scaffold, drywall carts, gang boxes
- Ensure fork lift truck batteries are charged & proper water levels
- Deliver materials throughout the Chicagoland area in the absence of a Driver – familiarity with dock/deliveries preferred
- Assist in routing deliveries
- Familiar with FedEx/UPS/USPS shipping and receiving
- Create and maintain a safe work environment, ensuring safety policies are always practiced and enforced.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License with clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
- Previous experience with building materials preferred
- Experience with small tool repair preferred
- Data entry/inventory control experience preferred
- Previous warehouse experience preferred
- Previous forklift experience preferred
