We’ve implemented comprehensive safety policies to prevent injuries on the job. Continuous safety training is a key part of this, ensuring every employee has the knowledge to complete tasks safely. Each project is overseen by a Safety Coordinator, responsible for enforcing safety protocols and protecting our workforce.
If an employee deviates from safety procedures, our 3-Step Safety Warning Plan is in place to address the issue.
The Safety Director issues a written warning for the first violation. A discussion follows between the Safety Director and the employee, where corrective actions are outlined. Both parties sign the Safety Warning Form, which is shared with the Owners and the employee's Superintendent.
A second violation within 12 months leads to immediate suspension without pay. The employee is also required to attend a safety discussion meeting with our Director of Operations, Superintendent and our Safety Director. This meeting focuses on addressing the safety concerns, length of suspension or termination depending on the egregiousness of the unsafe act and to gauge the employee’s overall attitude towards safety.
A third violation within 12 months results in indefinite suspension and a meeting to determine the employee’s future with the company. Termination may be considered based on the severity of the violation.
Fortunately, today, this 3-step program is rarely needing to be implemented, reflecting our employees’ understanding and buy-in of the importance of safety. Our strong “Safety Culture” ensures that safe work practices become second nature to everyone on the team.
